Not Just Nostalgia
OK, can we do more music for yaw'l? There's possibly gonna be a time when AD will be strictly Nostalgia, but we are hoping that the time isn't NOW! We are still young and fired up, and we want to keep bringing music. Now we realize it's been 13 years since we released anything in the U.S. and for most groups, if you're off the scene for two years, you're easy to move past. We've been off 6 times that, and we still hope you will give our music another chance. (if not on your turntable or cassette, then on your ipod and Mp3 player.)
There are some hurdles to cross. One is that the industry today is SO radically different than in the 90's. Radio stations have marketing consultants that pick their entire playlists based on stats, instead of taste. Radio Consultants...are powerful and just don't control the Music you hear...they control people too....The D.J.'s...the Station Sales Staff...The Artist's careers ...either in a direct or indirect way. Or they may be called programming specialist, either way; the days of a (music loving) radio director picking through records is gone. (I pray those days will come back. (I have faith they will.)

Some of our members are new to this "business" and thus keeping their day jobs (which I think is very smart) and even some of the vet members are doing it too. I have been blessed with the fact that I wrote a lot of the earlier material, so my family still get's to live off royalties regulary. But I bust my butt daily to make ends meet. My wife & I work my families Corn Roasting Business, we continue to run Vagabond records & tapes, which releases AD, and my solo stuff. And even with that, we rely heavily on foriegn success to get us by! But really I attribute our success to God! And we all have learned to be pretty frugal in spending. So that too is a blessing!

But things look half full or half empty depending on HOW you wanna look at it. We get asked to do A LOT of charity work. We performed for 30,000 folks for Barack Obama in Columbia, S.C. (but only for expenses). We will do a MLK homeless dinner for Hosea Feed the Hungry this Monday (15,000 folks) but (also for free).
That's been a goal of ours since the beginning, (to give) but when money is low that truly is a sacrifice. Yet, honestly, I wouldn't want it any other way.

We are able to headline BIG festivals over seas but the flights for 8 members kick tail.  So we are independant, we do tour and the pay is nice but once you split it with the group and various other interests, things are still tight.

Am I grumbling? Well sorta (maybe) but not really, just speaking the fact that we want to do more music and we need your help to do it. We only ask that you be aware that free downloading of our album is not helping us to move forward, although we appreciate your interest in what we're doing. We are going to keep thinking of innovative ways to make albums, distribute them, reach you and entertain you. But If you are so inclined, spread the word and let your friends know about our reunion, come see us live, Join our E-team, And oh yeah...buy our music.  ;-) hint hint   (Store)
